Every year, in conjunction with the LRHA Rural Health Care Conference, the LRHA recognizes outstanding individuals and programs that show compassion and commitment to their rural health community and demonstrates lasting contributions to the rural health care system. The 2017 LRHA Rural Health Awards Program will be held on October 23rd at the L’auberge Baton Rouge Hotel.
Rural Health Award Categories
Rural Health Practitioner of the Year
Recognizes a direct health care clinical provider (e.g. dentistry, optometry, nursing, etc.) for leadership in delivering health services to rural populations. Factors taken into consideration include providing outstanding care, involvement in the community, and lasting contributions to the health care system.
Rural Health Professional of the Year
Recognizes a health care administrator, or a community rural health care delivery practice ( CAH, CHC, or RHC) for contribution/leadership in health care services throughout rural communities. Efforts taken into consideration include providing outstanding leadership, community involvement, lasting contributions to the health care system, as well as their outreach efforts.
Outstanding Rural Health Program of the Year
Recognizes a statewide or regional one-time or recurrent program/project that promotes the development of rural health care delivery systems, promotes and/or provides increased access to health care services for rural populations or that improves the quality of rural health care through educational outreach. Factors taken into consideration include coordination, networking, innovation, and lasting impact.
Outstanding Legislator of the Year
Recognizes a Louisiana Legislator for outstanding leadership in promoting legislation to benefit access to quality care in rural communities. Factors taken into consideration include the wisdom and foresight in dealing with rural issues and the demonstrated leadership in addressing the health care needs of rural and underserved communities throughout Louisiana.
